Over one million insects, twenty-four thousand birds, seventeen thousand minerals, one hundred thousand fossils and a large specialized library: this is only part of what can be found in the oldest municipal museum in Milan.
On the ground floor are the mineralogical, petrographical, geological and paleontological sections with many specimens of great scientific interest. Recently the Paleontology Section has been enlarged and it now otters a wonderful lifesize reconstruction of an herbivorous dinosaur, and many other interesting exhibits.
On the floor above are the zoology collections. Particularly worthy of attention is the Italian National Park room which displays animals in their natural habitats.
